Ordered Amount on Line Items

Ordered Amount on Line Items

Release Date

Internally May 8, 2025

Table of Contents

Overview

What

We will now store the original ordered amount on a line item, so users can track the difference between goal amount and ordered amount

Who

Internal users during the reconciliation process, and external users looking to know the original ordered amount

Why

Many partners bill their advertisers on the ordered amount, which will help us store this information. Additionally, for reconciliation purposes, we will now understand the difference between the amounts ordered and delivered.

Example

A user ordered a display line item with 1,000 impressions. We only deliver 900 impressions. In today's workflow, we would override that 1,000 impressions with 900 and no longer have a record of the original ordered amount being 1,000 impressions.

Walkthrough

  • After an order is created, the ordered amount field will show for all products

    • For every goal amount, there will be an ordered amount

    • It will auto populate with the same amount as the goals when it is created

  • During reconciliation, the original goal amounts should be updated

    • This is still the source of truth for tableau and billing

2025-04-28 13.44.41.gif
  • The only time the ordered amount should be updated is if any changes are made to what the partner originally ordered. For example:

    • The user purchased more (i.e. updates what they ordered)

    • Cancelations

    • Rewnewals / extensions

All changes will show in the history log when a change happens to an ordered amount

  • Rows are added

  • Rows are removed

  • Fields are updated

Users now have the ability to “insert” a row of allocations, and no longer be dependent on the + add allocation button

  • this will copy over the dates from the previous row

  • Users will still need to update the goal type or dates

  • You cannot save a row with overlapping dates with the same goal type.

Not Included

  • Any changes to tableu or billing workflows (for now)
